Hey guys,
Welcome to my very first blog. I will begin my saying it is going to be a very long (it's actually going to be short but it's going to feel long) and boring journey. I am a senior in college studying literature, something that will ultimately force me into the education field that I have not intended to enter. I'm doing this blog purely for a class and I apologize in advance if this blog is dry. I'm not the best texter and it might translate here.
I have never used technology in an educational setting in a way that I was teaching. I have been exposed to videos on Youtube and BrainPop! and other educational video things to learn throughout my schooling years by teachers and professors, but nothing more. I have had opportunities to use laptops and iPads strictly for school provided by the school but a lot of my peers and myself used it to surf the web and play multiplayer games together like Fireboy and Watergirl. Now that I think about it, I don't use technology for education, but just for sheer fun.
My personal learning networks include classmates, friends, and coworkers. Some might have organizations like clubs and whatever, but most people will have more than two networks. I personally don't use anything online but know of people who use LinkedIn. Facebook and twitter are also major names in the networking field, to connect with people you do and don't know. I have a very small presence on social media and I don't use it to communicate in a way that I should which is advance my career opportunities.
That is it for my very first blog, I am glad you were able to make it to the end, giving you the benefit of the doubt that you did not skim or just jump straight to this conclusion. Have a good day!
It's totally fine that you have a small presence on social media. In fact, many people are primarily consumers of information on platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. You don't necessarily have to interact to learn when using these platforms. Since you are starting to think about your career, what resources (people, groups, social media tools, etc.) can you use to find information about jobs and promote yourself on the market?
