Blog #8 -- What am I doing
I created a website. A fake class website that you can view here: http://eh19o.weebly.com. While I created the website, I learned how difficult it must be for educators to make their websites and things fun or funny and appealing. I had trouble wording things and where to put certain stuff and what to say or include. I liked adding pictures and backgrounds but I hated the insertion. I don't know how I can use it in my future career I'm a little lost right now.
I feel the need to let you know something. I can't update you on my status with Diigo 'cause I haven't worked with Diigo since I last spoke about it. Whoops, sorry! But from what I have gathered and experienced with Diigo, I will never like it and I will never use it after December. I'm sorry Ms. Bagdy
Educators need to keep up with technology. Not just for students and their professions but for themselves and society and maybe their own kids. As more and more tech comes out and programs and all that, things that can make it easier to teach or for kids to learn, schools will implement them. So it's imperative that teachers are capable and open to embarrassing themselves and having fun.
https://www.forbes.com/#241d3fd12254. I think this link is a great place for updates and opinions. It's the homepage of Forbes, which is a reliable and well known site, so you can use Forbes for almost any subject or topic. For education, you just search "educational tech" or something like that and you're good to go. Remember that story I told you about, the professor who couldn't work YouTube that one day? As you get older I understand it gets more difficult 'cause you're used to the old ways and you don't understand all this strange and new stuff and it's just difficult. So try to stay up to date and maybe it'll be easier I don't know
Overall, I really like the design of your website and it was easy to navigate. The only thing was some of the contrast. The links you provided are barely visible because there is a picture in the background. I think it would be better to try and change the font color of the links if possible.
ReplyDeleteHey Evelyn! I really enjoyed the aesthetic of the website you made for your 5th grade class. I loved how inspirational the "Adventure Begins with You" homepage was. I think that is a great way to get students excited about learned. The links that you provided on the "Funtime Corner" and "Parents Corner" tab were not the most visible. When I fist looks at the page, I thought you did not have links, until I found them on the picture. Maybe try changing the picture to a plan background or highlighting the links so that they each have an individual background type of thing. I think that changing the picture to a more science-based background would also fit the aesthetic of your website a little bit better. Overall, great job!
